7 Febroary 2009: Never again!

fahatsiarovana-tolona (9)A commemoration sculptures were erected last week in memory of all the victims and survivors of February 07, 2009 (here my own account of the event). There is two stone monuments, one for the dead and missings, the other one for the wounded-handicapped survivors. The latter have set up an association “AV7” (Association of the Victims of 7/02/09) and the 7th February will be a day of remembrance.fahatsiarovana-tolonaAs the celebration of Tiananmen massacre and the anniversary of May 13, 1972 approache, a far more bloody protestation, one couldn’t help thinking about the becoming of the cause many people died for. When Governments encourage self interests at the expense of the people, when laws favour particular interests in detriment of the public interest, when justice is raped, what citizens can do to protect “rights” as a tool for preservation of common good ? Refuse Resist.

“The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil but by those who look at them without reacting.” — Einstein.
Then “It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government.”– Thomas Paine.

fahatsiarovana-tolona (2) - CopieIt’s heartrending to see these names, the same typical long names that all Malagasy have in common, what make them unique when going abroad, the same kind of name the trigger-happy men have because the shooters are Malagasy not foreigners as some media said. Maybe forty dead is not very important compared to the 2000 dead of Tiananmen Square or the 3000 dead during the pacific protest of 1988 in Birmany, but, for Malagasy people life is a valuable gift only the Creator can take.As the HAT president Andry Rajoelina said: when a Malagasy shed the blood of another Malagasy, it is the whole nation’s value who is killed. fahatsiarovana-tolona (2)

For all of them I dedicate this Manowar’s song : “Fight For Freedom” (click for download)

There’s a sound heard across the land
It’s heard across the sea
You’ll only hear it if you listen with your hearts
And one day hope to be free
To hear the sound of freedom many gave their lives
They fought for you and me
Those memories will always live inside us
And now it’s our time to be free

Where the eagles fly – I will soon be there
If you want to – come along with me my friend
Say the words and you’ll be free
From the mountains to the sea
We’ll fight for freedom again

Scream out loud for all the world to hear
From sea to shining sea ??
Let freedom ring and every man be king
To live as one through the years

Now is the time we all must stand together
So raise your hands show them we are strong
Side by side the fight goes on forever
Marching to the battle with this song.
